Bingwa Coffee was co-founded by Wesley Korir
Bingwa coffee beans are grown in TransNzoia County. Wesley (2012 Boston Marathon champion) and his brother John (2026 & 2025 Boston Marathon champion) are both from this area of Kenya. Not only are Wesley and John world class marathoners- they are also world class philanthropists. Through Bingwa Coffee, Wesley and John are able to give back to their local community by helping farmers earn more for their family.

The average Kenyan family lives in a small mud home. Many familes do not have plumbing or electricity, and at best, have access to clean water. Members of the coffee co-op are able to earn an income by selling their beans to the co-op. Wesley and John Korir grew up in a very similar setting. Running has provided a way for them to change the standard of living for generations that come after them; through Bingwa they aim to assist even more families.

Bingwa was started with one purpose: End generational poverty in rural Kenya. Poverty in the TransNzoia area of Kenya is significant. We are helping small farmers transition from corn farming to coffee farming. This quadrulples their small income and helps them all provide for their families.

While our mission is to improve the lives of small farmers in Kenya, we still take our coffee very seriously. Quality and excellent flavor are necessary. We work closely with the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure we are growing top quality beans.
